ctDNA

Introduction to project

This is a national project which aims to improve lung cancer survival. The project uses liquid biopsies to identify circulating tumour DNA in order to identify personalised targeted therapies for patients with advanced lung cancer. The aim is for the revolutionary technology to lead to earlier diagnosis and more personalised cancer treatment options.

What is the condition?

Newly diagnosed advanced lung cancer.

What are we doing?

The Central and South South GMSA are leading on this national project for our region. The project aims to perform 100 liquid biopsies in patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer. The data collected will undergo rigorous analysis on a national level to assess whether this technology will be commissioned more widely across the NHS to help improve lung cancer outcomes.
